About Kingwood Mardi Gras

The Kingwood Mardi Gras festival is organized by the Town Center Parks Association (TCPA) and was first held in 2005.  Since its inaugural launch, the event has become a much anticipated family friendly event each year.

History of Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras, which is French for "Fat Tuesday," is typically referred to in the U.S. as the final day before the Lenten season begins the next day on "Ash Wednesday."  In some areas, Mardi Gras refers to the entire season of celebrations which culminates in Fat Tuesday.

Events in Town Center

Kingwood is fortunate in that a number of community events are held in Town Center Park each year, the majority of them with free admission.  The TCPA organizes five yearly community festivals, in addition to cosponsoring the weekly Kingwood Farmers' Market.  Other annual events include Picnic on the Park in April and the Kingwood Barktoberfest in October.

These events are not funded by the city, county or Kingwood homeowners dues, but solely from the sponsorships, vendor fees, and donations from area businesses.  If you enjoy the events, please let the participating businesses know that you appreciate their support.
