Are you new to the area and haven't met anyone yet?  Are you an "old-timer" that would like to expand your circle of friends? Are you just a friendly person? If so, be sure to attend the first coffee meeting of the new year for the Kingwood Hi Neighbor Club, Wednesday, August 16, 2006. 

 

Residents of Kingwood, TX, enjoy community events throughout the year.  The 4th of July is one of the most festive occasions of the year with activities throughout the weekend in Kingwood and the surrounding Humble and Atascocita areas.

 

The 2006 Garden at the Park Family Festival will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 10 a.m till 6 p.m. The Peoples Park is situated at 1389 Forest Way on the Kingwood Drive feeder beside Sears Hardware. This years festival will include live music, games and moonwalks for the kids, vendors, arts and crafts, live entertainment shows and much more.

 

Learn about potential summer outdoor hazards such as poison ivy, venomous snakes and spiders along with other possible harmful flora and fauna Saturday, June 10 at 10 a.m. Information will include how to avoid bites and stings and treatment of the effects. All ages are welcome to attend. 

 

A number of churches in the Kingwood, Atascocita, and Humble areas are hosting vacation Bible schools in the summer months.  The themes range from Artic Adventures to Treasure Hunts.

 Below is a listing of vacation Bible schools being held in the area.  Most require preregistration, some have a small fee.  Please contact the church for more details.

 

Birding enthusiasts are invited to join or form a team of fellow birders Saturday, May 13, at 7:30 a.m. to help identify as many species of birds as possible, and even win a great prize! Ages 12 and up.

 

Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Eversole invites residents to join him Saturday, April 22, at 10 a.m. for the grand opening of the Jones-Bender Trail, the inaugural section of the Spring Creek Greenway Trailhead. Hike, bike, run or take a leisurely stroll on this beautiful tree-lined trail on the east end of Jones Park. Light refreshments will be served following the ribbon cutting ceremony. Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day, and Jones Park and Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) are commemorating the day by giving away native Texas trees at Jones Park throughout the day. Also, Jones Park staff and volunteers will guide visitors through the park’s beautiful trails on a bicycle tour at 11 a.m. or a walking nature tour at 1 p.m. All ages are welcome. Tour reservations are required beginning Wednesday, April 12 by calling (281) 446-8588.

 

Canoe Spring Creek: Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m., residents ages 16 and over can take a leisurely paddle along beautiful tree-lined Spring Creek on a canoe trip from Jones Park to the San Jacinto River. Enjoy the many wonderful sites nature has to offer along this interesting and scenic waterway. Reservations are required beginning Friday, April 14 by calling (281) 446-8588.
