Residents of Kingwood enjoy the well-planned villages and commercial areas, as well as the beautiful greenbelts and  parks.  However, maintaining that beauty takes effort on the part of everyone.

In a 13 to 2 vote, Houston City Council took action on Wednesday to adopt a tax rate proposed by Council Member Mark Ellis that will result in a tax increase for property owners in 2005.

While the damage in the Kingwood area was much less than originally expected due to the shift in the path of the hurricane, there was still a significant amount of wind damage.   Streets were littered with branches and debris.  Trees can be seen across town that were split from the strain, and a number were uprooted and toppled by the wind.  Many of the fallen trees missed the structures, but there are homes throughout the villages that took a direct hit.

Kingwood Area Emergency Shelters

Several Humble ISD schools will be opened as emergency shelters to weather the storm.  They will open at 12 pm today.  Bring your own supplies and be in place by 6:00 PM today for lock down.

Clothing Donations

According to  several of the donation centers, they are well stocked on clothing, other than men's XXX. 

Kingwood United Methodist at 1799 Woodland Hills Dr has been activated as a Red Cross Shelter and is preparing for the immediate arrival of hurricane victims.
