Summer is almost over for Humble ISD students.  Monday, August 14th will be the first day back to schools shoppers are preparing by taking advantage of the Texas Tax Free weekend on August 4th, 5th, and 5th.   No sales tax will be collected on clothing and shoes under $100.

 Do you know all of your neighbors? Have you been waiting for an opportunity to introduce yourself to the new family on the block? Here is your chance!   Hold a National Night Out Block party in your neighborhood!   The 2006 NNO will be Tuesday, August 1st, from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Update:  The girls have been located in California and their parents are enroute to bring them home.

Update:  A candelight vigil will be held for the girl's safe return tonight, Saturday the 22nd, in the Sear's parking lot at Deerbrook Mall.

Two Kingwood Girls, Whitney Kast and Mellissa Aristizabal, were last seen at Deerbrook Mall on Tuesday, July 18th.

Kingwood, Texas: Texas-sized festivities with a Kingwood flair are planned for the Fourth of July.

The fun starts on Saturday, June 30th, with the annual Alspaugh's street dance and BBQ.  The 4th of July activities start at 6 am in the morning with the Kingwood Civic Club fishing rodeo and ends in Kingwood Town Center with the fireworks display.

If you like dinosaurs, you don’t want to miss the 2006 Houston Gem and Mineral Society’s Gem, Jewelry, Mineral, and Fossil Show, to be held September 22-24 at the Humble Civic Center. This year’s show features “A Prehistoric Journey,” a new exhibit from Dinosaur World in San Antonio showcasing the skeletons, skulls, teeth, bones, spikes and claws of prehistoric creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago. 

The Performing Arts Education Centre is very pleased to present Cinderella Goes Disco by Shubert Fendrich. 

This audience participation play will delight the whole family!  Cinderella is not convinced she can go to the Prince's Disco Dance until her quirky Fairy Godmother tells her the stories of two other young ladies she also helped meet their Prince Charming's. 

Earlier this month the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Association (HLSR) bestowed $84,000.00 in 2006 scholarships to seven Humble Independent School District seniors.  Christina Galvan and Abbey Konz from Humble High School, Christine Adolphe, Yi Guo, Meredith Mosier, and Christine Wilson from Kingwood High School, and LaTonya Wilson from Quest High School each received a $12,000 award. 

Make your voice heard in the management of HISD schools by voting in the Board of Trustees elections.  Early voting is going on now through May 9th at the Humble ISD Administration Building (20200 Eastway Village Drive, Humble) or at the Instructional Support Center (4810 Magnolia Cove Drive, Kingwood).  Early voting hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 8 am to 7 pm on Thursday.
