Kingwood Swimming Pool Openings for 2008

As schools wind down across Kingwood, the community pools are beginning to open. Several have weekend hours during the months of May and September. All Kingwood pools will be operating on summer hours no later than June 4th.

New this year is the implementation of cooperative pool tags for many Kingwood villages. Residents of participating villages that are current on the homeowners and trails associations dues may receive id bracelets.

Residents of villages participating in the cooperative pool tag system will be able to use other village pools that use the ID bracelets. Non-Kingwood residents may purchase id bracelets for $125 per family to use the pools of participating villages.

Kingwood Ranked as "Most Livable Suburb" by Forbes Magazine

Kingwood Texas: Forbes Magazine has confirmed what Kingwood residents already know . . . Kingwood is a great place to live.

The "Livable Forest" was rated as one of the "Most Livable" Suburbs for the Houston Metro area along with Spring and Atascocita. A variety of metrics were used in the ranking, including quality of schools, size and affordability of homes, and the safety of the neighborhoods.

One thing that I found interesting is that while Kingwood ranked well on all of the study's criteria to be awarded "Most Livable Suburb," it didn't address many of the characteristics that make Kingwood a truely special place to live. How can you quantify the impact of the canopy of trees, the 75 miles of greenbelt and trails, parks in every village, numerous community events, and the friendliness of the people?

Residents of Kingwood enjoy the well-planned villages and commercial areas, as well as the beautiful greenbelts and parks. However, maintaining that beauty takes effort on the part of everyone.

In an effort to preserve the beauty and livability of Kingwood, in 2004 the Kingwood Chamber of Commerce started the annual Travis McCormick Kleenwood Day. The event was named for Travis McCormick, who was the head of the Kingwood Service Association for many years and was committed to preserving the natural beauty of Kingwood.
