A volunteer instructor at May Community Center shows
children, ages 12 and older, the art of turning an ordinary piece of wood
into a work of art Mondays in July (beginning July 7) at 10 a.m.
To get
started, all you need is a pocketknife. Class size is limited to the
first 10 students.

Learn basic sewing skills and make creative projects
Mondays or Wednesdays in July at 9:30 a.m., beginning July 7 or July
9.
Anne Sparkman teaches this hands-on class to the first nine
children ages eight and older who are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Sewing machines and sergers are provided by the Center.
A project fee of $10 is requested to help defray the cost
of supplies.
Payment must be made in advance to guarantee your
reservation. Each participant must bring neutral thread, fabric scissors, and
a seam ripper.

From beach parties and Power Labs to eco-friendly curriculum, the activity filled programs will keep the summer doldrums at bay.

LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Houston has scheduled
LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Day 2008 for Saturday, May 31 at The Clubs of
Kingwood Golf Advantage School in Kingwood, Texas.
Since its
inaugural year in 1999, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Day has been an annual
event devoted to making golf accessible to girls and furthering their
interest in the game.
Festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will
include a variety of putting, chipping, and driving activities. All
attendees will receive complimentary gifts to commemorate the event.
We hope to expand our reach and elevate girls enthusiasm towards the game of golf," said Alli Jarrett, Site Director.
