AARP Tax-Aide volunteers provide free income tax assistance for low- and middle-income individuals at May Community Center Tuesdays, February 2 through April 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Appointments are required and can be made at the Center or by calling (281) 324-3373. Participants need to bring their 2008 tax returns and 2009 documents to their appointment.

Nancy Bocanegra with Community Health Choice is providing information and answering questions about CHIP, a health insurance program for Texas children, at May Community Center Thursday, February 18 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Plan to attend this informative program to learn more about the qualifications, coverage, and costs of CHIP.
CHIP covers children (birth through age 18) who do not qualify for Children’s Medicaid. Some of the services covered by CHIP include doctor’s office visits, vaccinations, eye exams and glasses, dental care, lab tests and x-rays, home healthcare, and much more. May Community Center offers American Heart Association Infant, Child, and Adult CPR Training Saturday, February 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This course is designed to train individuals to take assertive action in emergency situations, and to recognize and care for life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac problems and other medical dilemmas.

Commissioner Jerry Eversole is pleased to announce that the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has confirmed the trout stocking dates at Bane Park and Burroughs Park. The lakes at Bane and Burroughs parks will each be stocked with 2,000 rainbow trout on Friday, January 15, 2010. This popular trout-stocking program, which began in 1966, is supported by the sales of Texas Freshwater Fish Stamps and a 50 percent match by Harris County Precinct 4.

Are you dreaming of a green Christmas? Association Management, Inc. (AMI)-Kingwood will make it easy to be green this post-holiday season by collecting Christmas trees now through January 9 for the annual Dunes Day project to rebuild the sand dunes along Brazoria County beaches.
"We appreciate the support of Association Management Inc.-Kingwood office in our goal to collect the more than 20,000 Christmas trees needed to reconstruct the dunes devastated by Hurricane Ike,” said Brazoria County Parks Department Director Richard Hurd.
