LSC-Kingwood Drama Department to Present Godspell

Cast members rehearse for the LSC-Kingwood musical production of Godspell, coming to the stage Nov. 12-14 and Nov. 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. in the SFA Performing Arts Theatre.

One of the biggest Broadway successes of all time will be coming to the stage this month when the LSC-Kingwood drama department performs Godspell, the award-winning musical based on the gospel of Matthew.

“This is my fourth experience with the show,” says Artistic Director Eric C. Skiles. “Godspell is one of those perennial favorites for the audience and the cast. We have an amazing group of 23 actors in this production – their sound and energy are amazing. This is the perfect show for the beginning of the holiday season; it reminds us to give thanks and rejoice! Come join us!”

Harris County Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program Presents Houston Masterworks Chorus

choir2.jpgHarris County Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program and SAFE (Senior Adults’ Fun Events) announce tickets and transportation for a Houston Masterworks Chorus performance Saturday, November 14. Houston Masterworks Chorus is Houston’s largest independent choral group, founded in 1986. The chorus is dedicated to presenting a choral repertoire that includes classical to contemporary favorites.

This season’s opening performance features works commemorating composer Franz Joseph Haydn and promises to be a musical experience that lifts the spirits of the performers and audiences alike.

"TASTING THE TOWN" Winners Announced!

The Humble Civic Center reverberated with sounds of food, fun, and entertainment at the Annual Coffee News "Tasting The Town" which was held October 15th. Guests enjoyed food and beverages from over 40 different local establishments.

Attendees were given the opportunity to vote when leaving the event for the "People's Choice" Tasty Awards, which were handed out at the end of the evening. This year's winners are as follows: ·

  • Best Entrée: Texas Roadhouse, for their "Fall-off-the-Bone Ribs"
  • Best Beverage: Tapioca Lounge, for their assorted teas and fantastic fresh smoothies
  • Best Dessert: H.E.B. for their amazing assortment of desserts - but especially the cake.
  • Best Overall: Hector's Mexican Grill & Cantina, for their bacon wrapped shrimp, fajitas, margaritas, fresh made tortillas and Mariachi band

LSC-Kingwood to Offer Respiratory Care Conference October 20th

lonestar-college.pngHOUSTON – Healthcare practitioners and students are invited to join the Lone Star College-Kingwood Respiratory Care Department for a one-day continuing education seminar on campus, Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 7:30 a.m. to – 4 p.m. in the Student and Fine Arts Center, room 125. Topics of discussion include: Mechanical Ventilation for the Morbidly Obese, Congenital Cardiac Anomalies and Ventilation, Isoflurane with Status Asthmatics, Swine Flu, Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP), and Pulmonary Hypertension.

The cost is $55 for general registration at the door; $15 for students ($10 for LSC students) and includes a light breakfast and lunch. LSC-Kingwood Art Gallery to Feature Houston Artist Kathy Kelley

An exhibit of sculptural works by Kathy Kelley will be showcased at Lone Star College-Kingwood on Oct. 15 through Nov. 13 in the Student and Fine Arts Building Art Gallery. 

HOUSTON  –An exhibit of sculptural works by Kathy Kelley will be showcased at Lone Star College-Kingwood on Oct. 15 through Nov. 13 in the Student and Fine Arts Building Art Gallery.

Local art lovers may be familiar with Kelley through her involvement with the new experimental art space in Houston called BOX 13 ArtSpace. Her sculptures consist of reanimated and repurposed objects of urban refuse. Kelly has been expanding her body of work and will have new pieces for this show.

Kelley was selected to participate in the 2009 Texas Biennial, chosen for a solo exhibition at Women and Their Work in 2010 and is the recipient of an Emerging Arts Fellowship from the Houston Arts Alliance.
