The page I Stumbled Upon today is a picture of a company putting their money where their mouth is . . . literally.
They don't make claims how secure their security glass is, they tell you. Check it out!

What do Alices' Adventures in Wonderland, Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl, and The Bible have in common? They have all been banned at one time or another.
The Forbidden Library gives a list of books that have been banned along with the circumstances.
It just goes to show that words are powerful. William Tyndale was murdered in 1536 for working on the translation of the Bible into every day language.

Have a lot on your plate?
Are you feeling stressed?
Visit Lazyist.com for 35 Creative Ways to Cope with Stress.
One note on #21:
21. Take a walk in the rain. Use an umbrella if you must, but just walk
in the rain if the temperature allows (and there is no lighting). Let
the warm drops wash away all the stress. It helps if you stomp in a few
puddles along the way.
They obviously don't live in Houston and the torrential downpours.

You may have noticed in the past couple months several new features on the Kingwood Connection, one of which is posts by Kingwood area bloggers.
How to be a Kingwood Blogger
If you are a registered user on the Kingwood Connection, the easiest way is to create an account and hit "Write a Blog Entry" under "My Menu." That's it! You're on your way.
If you already have a blog (for example on Blogger, Wordpad, etc), you can get additional exposure by linking your site feed with the Kingwood Connection. The intro of your posts will display under "latest posts" and the "Blog" category with a link to your web site for the full article.
Don't worry, you don't have to know about RSS or XML. Just contact us and we'll take care of the rest.
Bloggers Win with Problogger
If you have a blog and have been wondering how to take it to the next level, Problogger.com is a site you need to visit.
For the past three years, Darren Rowse of Problogger has been providing tips on how to blog, blog well, and even make a living from it.
In celebration of the site's third birthday, they have launched a Birthday Bash with over $54,000 in prizes to be given away. Yes, that's right, $54,000. So head over and check it out.

If you are trying to accomplish something and feel like giving up, visit the Self-Efficacy page published by Emory University.
It listed famous and successful people who failed over and over again before they finally succeeded.
It is amazing how many "experts" dismissed them. Did you know that 27 publishers rejected Dr. Seuss's first book? How embarrassing would that be?
Another good source of inspiration is the 16 rules from Bob Parsons, founder and CEO of GoDaddy.

One thing that I've definitely noticed working with people and color is that there are quite a few people out there that are clueless when it comes to names of colors.
They obviously never got the big box of Crayolas. When you ask them what color they want they say, "blue." Or if they are really descriptive, "dark blue."
Not to be sexist, but men seem to have a problem with this especially.
If I'm describing a color to a woman, we are usually on the same page with the end result. If it's a man, I know that if I don't give them a swatch I'm going to end up with something completely different that what I asked for.
Here's a perfect example.
A college group I was a member of wanted to order t-shirts. We wanted CORNFLOWER BLUE, which is not a dark blue but still has a lot of vibrancy. What we got was a washed out POWDER BLUE. We were not happy. Especially when the screenprinter (a man) tried to argue with us and tell us that was the color we had asked for.
If Chirag Mehtra had been around, we could have directed them to the Name That Color page and avoided the problem.
So if you don't know the difference between Indigo and Navy Blue, be sure to check it out.
One other color issue to keep in mind is that the same color will look different depending on the medium. So if you choose a color for your logo, it will look slightly different on your computer monitor, your printed brochure, and a t-shirt. That is because the light refracts differently on each.

OneSentenceStories.org publishes single sentences that encapsulate the story of a person's life.
An example is this submission by bubblegirl:
After seeing the tears on my keyboard I now realize why they say office relationships are not a good idea.
Since its launch in August of 2006, over 10,000 entries have been submitted, 1,000 of which have been published on the web site. Three hundred of the best submissions have been collected and are being published in a book that will be out in December 2007.

Self Help books are great, but sometimes a picture just helps get the message across.
That is the philosophy behind this article on ShakeThatBrain.com on how to have a great relationship.
They have put together a "photo story" based on principles from the book, Fairy Tales Can Come True

I cannot draw. When I had to do sketches for mock-ups in my Advertising classes, people laughed at them . . . to my face.
That's what art departments are for right?
So when I come across great illustration tutorials, I get excited. And this one from the Academy of Art University is awesome.
It gives a step by step Flash tutorial on how to draw a face. With the pause and replay, it's even better than taking a class.
