I might not have chosen this for my SU site of the day without #9. Spelling and grammar are important from Ten Tips to Improve Your Writing
You don’t have to know all the rules by heart, but you should know when
to use an apostrophe, when to use a full-stop, and when to make a
paragraph.
Hallelujah!
Chatrooms, IM's and text messages may have perpetuated writing in shorthand, but that doesn't mean it should be the "accepted" norm and replace proper sentence structure an grammar.
The internet is about information and communication. Making your reader decipher your meaning is not a part of effective communication.
The other thing that just drives me crazy is when people misuse words.
"I have a boat for sell."
No, you would like to "sell" your boat so you have put it up "for sale."
Know what words mean and the correct way to use them.

Ever wish you were made of money?
Now you can have a "shirt" made of one.
Visit crandall11's home page and learn how to fold a dollar bill (or larger denomination if you wish) into a shirt.
Use it to add a little pizazz to a money gift card, or do it just for fun.

I can normally find a cool site with just a few clicks on Stumble!
Today was different. It took me awhile to find a site I wanted to highlight.
I finally came across an article on the best movie blunders on BS News.
It shows screen clips of continuity errors that producers made in movies. For example, in the "Pirates of the Carribean," there is an Adidas tag showing on Johnny Depp's hat. In Troy (I think), there is an airplane flying overhead in the scene.

I thought it was broken.
I was getting ready to stumble to the next site and as my mouse moved, a swirl of colors appeared.
Soooo cool!
It's like nikal.com that I posted about previously.

Today I stumbled SpeedTest.net. I'm sure you've come across a number of internet connection tests, but I'm sure not as cool looking as this one.
It will test your connection speed, compare it to other connections globally and nationally, as well as to other users for your own ISP.

The very first site I stumbled across is my site of the day.
Words to Know by Phil Hartman
The site design is circa 1995 (I know this for a fact because I used that same floral spacer gif on my very first web site created with AOLPress), but the information is golden.
I have a fairly large working vocabulary, but there were a couple of new ones for me, like bathos (an anticlimax) and epigone (a second rate imitator or follower).
So the next time someone irritates you don't argue with them, inveigh against their position.
Tell your spouse you're not complaining, it's a jeremiad.
If you incorporate these words into your speech, people will think you are a polymath.

Have you ever wanted to learn sign language?
Visit www.asl.gs by Dr. Bill Vicars and view a video slide show displaying the ASL symbol for each letter of the alphabet.

The Stumble Upon site for today is ReadPrint.com
Need a reference from a classic and don't have the book on hand? This site has a wide selection of books with the full content available. The books are those where the copyright has expired.
Another helpful feature is a brief bio on individual authors.
So the next time you feel like a little Pride and Prejudice from Jane Austen, The Wealth of Nations from Adam Smith, or The Art of War from Sun Tzu, check it out.
