The only options in the original part of Kingwood are Embarq and
Suddenlink (originally Kingwood Cable). There was some sort of deal made when Kingwood was developed that restricted it.
I have Suddenlink for internet and cable, but I have Vonage for phone.
Suddenlink was Cebridge before, and when they bought out Kingwood Cable there were a lot of issues. But I have to say that the service has been pretty good for the past couple of years.
You have the outages in the high winds and the internet will slow down in the evening during higher usage, but again overall it is pretty good.
I have heard from NUMEROUS people who have had issues with Embarq. Anything IT related you can expect that there will occasionally be issues.
But I have had more than one web hosting client call me saying that they aren't receiving emails on their domain name. My first question is, "Are you using Embarq?" and the answer is always yes.
I'm not a hardware person, so I don't know why this happens, but every once in awhile their internet will just stop updating. One of my clients couldn't download her email through her Embarq internet connection for 12 HOURS, but they were coming through on her Sprint Blackberry phone.
I think Embarq does have the cheapest package, but if your ISP is going to affect anything business related, I'd go with Suddenlink.
