As schools wind down across Kingwood, the community pools are beginning to open. Several have weekend hours during the months of May and September. All pools will be operating on summer hours no later than June 4th.
New this year is the implementation of cooperative pool tags for many Kingwood villages. Residents of participating villages that are current on the homeowners and trails associations dues may receive id bracelets.
Residents of villages participating in the cooperative pool tag system will be able to use other village pools that use the ID bracelets. Non-Kingwood residents may purchase id bracelets for $125 per family to use the pools of participating villages.

According to recent FBI statistics, violent crimes continue to rise in
our schools, as evidenced by various campus rampages, the new trend in
cyber bullying, and teen suicides. This has rattled the nerves of
parents across the country. Tina Mansfield, a mom and graphic designer
from Kingwood Texas, decided to use her skills to respond to an
increasingly egocentric, mean and competitive environment among our
youth. She has designed a ring called String-Ring — The Kindness
Reminder.
The attractive sterling silver ring is designed to be
threaded with interchangeable colored strings and is inspired by the
old custom of tying a string around your finger to remember something,
in this case ... kindness. Each ring comes with a set of 10 strings,
each color representing a particular act of kindness.

Baby Brandon Brooks is less than four months old, but
since doctors diagnosed him with a life-threatening disease, his tiny body has
undergone six blood transfusions and countless treatments. On Jan. 30, he was
born seven weeks premature to Kingwood parents Mickey and Jimmy Brooks.
Because
Brandon's life depends on voluntary blood donations, the public is encouraged
to support him at a replenishment blood drive April 30 at Kingwood's Merry Go
Round boutique on Woodland Hills Drive.
Learn more about Brandon's story at www.caringbridge.org/visit/brandonnbrooks.
