Keep
Houston Beautiful is excited to offer a new neighborhood grant focusing
on community beautification projects.
They will award a total of
$10,000 (ranging from $500 to $2,500) to neighborhood groups for
projects completed during this fiscal year (July 1, 2007 - June 30,
2008). Applications may be submitted by civic associations, homeowners
associations or 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations.

Kingwood TX : Pets will now have a festival to call
their own with the first annual Kingwood Barktoberfest to be held
Saturday, October 6th, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at Kingwood Town Center
Park. Pooches and their parents can enjoy a fun-filled day of
activities which will include a costume contest, pet photography,
flyball and agility demonstrations and more!
In addition to the festivities, the event, sponsored by VCA Kingwood
Animal Hospital, Pampered Paws Boutique of Kingwood and Urban Paws magazine of Houston, will spotlight and promote the various
rescue groups and shelters in the North Houston area. “The rescues and
shelters work year-round to help homeless and neglected animals,”
explained Jamie Bakke, event organizer and owner of Pampered Paws
Boutique. “We want to recognize and support those efforts.”

On September 4th, William R. Williams officially filed as a candidate for the Houston City Council District E election to be held on November 6th, 2007.
Williams first announced his intentions to run on April 28th, 2007 at River Grove Park in Kingwood. Since then, he has attended a variety of community meetings across this widespread and diverse district which encompasses Kingwood, Forest Cove, Clear Lake, and Sagemont. Williams believes that listening is key to understanding each neighborhood’s unique issues, and pledges, “When I am elected to City Council, residents from all corners of District E can rest assured that their interests will be represented equally.”
