Joshua Ray Juarez, a 17-year old boy, was arrested for the murders of 83 year-old Deborah Maloney and 53 year-old Lucy Maloney in Kingwood. The women were stabbed over a dispute regarding Juarez' pet dog.

The maximum prison sentence possible for the boy is life in prison. Prior to the 2005 Roper v. Wade decision, 17-year olds who commit crimes in Texas were eligible for the death penalty.
