Ribbon Cutting Slated at Jones Park Celebrates Jones-Bender Trail

Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Eversole invites residents to join him Saturday, April 22, at 10 a.m. for the grand opening of the Jones-Bender Trail, the inaugural section of the Spring Creek Greenway Trailhead. Hike, bike, run or take a leisurely stroll on this beautiful tree-lined trail on the east end of Jones Park. Light refreshments will be served following the ribbon cutting ceremony. Earth Day Trees and Tours at Jesse Jones Park

Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day, and Jones Park and Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) are commemorating the day by giving away native Texas trees at Jones Park throughout the day. Also, Jones Park staff and volunteers will guide visitors through the park’s beautiful trails on a bicycle tour at 11 a.m. or a walking nature tour at 1 p.m. All ages are welcome. Tour reservations are required beginning Wednesday, April 12 by calling (281) 446-8588.

Canoe Trip at Jesse Jones Park

Canoe Spring Creek: Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m., residents ages 16 and over can take a leisurely paddle along beautiful tree-lined Spring Creek on a canoe trip from Jones Park to the San Jacinto River. Enjoy the many wonderful sites nature has to offer along this interesting and scenic waterway. Reservations are required beginning Friday, April 14 by calling (281) 446-8588. 

Help Kate Fight CMS

Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome is an inherited muscular disorder resulting from a genetic flaw at the neuromuscular junction,  occurring in 1 or 2 per million births. There will be a fundraiser to help with Kate's medical expenses on Saturday, April 8th at the Porter Walmart with Barbeque sandwich with Chips and Drink  for $5.00, Hot Dogs for $1.50, as well as brownies, cookies and cakes.

Wildflower Walk at Jones Park

Join other wildflower enthusiasts for a guided Wildflower Walk on Saturday, April 15, at 10 a.m.  Stroll down Jones Park’s beautiful trails and discover the dozens of species of magnificent wildflowers found in the park. All ages are welcome for this fun and educational program.  

Nature Hunt at Jones Park

Want to enjoy the beautiful amenities of Jones Park and have fun doing it? Stop by the nature center for the clues and hunt for the answers by walking the park’s trails at Nature Hunt on Sunday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ages 5 to 16.
