Memorial Hermann and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have launched operations under their recently formed partnership to offer high-quality, specialized breast screening and diagnostic services in Lake Houston.
MD Anderson Breast Care with Memorial Hermann, the joint program announced in August, provides patients in Lake Houston with more convenient access to MD Anderson’s specialized breast imaging expertise, while utilizing Memorial Hermann’s advanced technologies and convenient access.
“Through Memorial Hermann’s community-based breast care centers, patients in our area will now have the opportunity to benefit from more convenient access to MD Anderson’s specialized breast imaging services,” said Louis Smith, CEO, Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.
The patient-driven breast care center offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art screenings and diagnostics, including, but not limited to, breast MRIs, biopsies and ultrasounds, as well as 3D and digital mammography with board-certified and dedicated breast specialists.
Jay Parikh, M.D., a recognized international expert in breast imaging, is the medical director of the new program and leads MD Anderson’s fellowship trained, subspecialized radiologists.
“Our radiologists are excited about this phenomenal opportunity to partner with Memorial Hermann and offer MD Anderson’s high quality breast imaging and expert interpretation to patients in Lake Houston and communities across the region,” said Dr. Parikh, associate professor of Diagnostic Radiology at MD Anderson.
MD Anderson is now the exclusive provider of professional breast radiology services for five of Memorial Hermann’s 10 breast care centers located in Memorial City, Northeast, Southwest, Sugar Land and The Woodlands.
Over time, the network will expand to Memorial Hermann locations in Katy, Pearland, Pasadena, Upper Kirby and Northwest. In addition, expansion planning is underway for breast care centers in Cypress, South Katy and Spring.
MD Anderson Breast Care is on the campus of Memorial Hermann Northeast in Humble, located at 18955 N Memorial Drive. To make an appointment for MD Anderson Breast Care with Memorial Hermann or any Memorial Hermann Breast Care Center, visit memorialhermann.org/ScheduleNow or call 877.40.MAMMO.
