A Special Chanukah Celebration at Temple Beth Torah

chanukah at temple beth torah

Bring your menorahs and candles to join in a special Chanukah celebration  at Temple Beth Torah on Friday, December 23, the first night of Chanukah.

The celebration begins at 7:00 PM. Dan Gordon, the rabbi will lead a special Shabbat service that will include the telling of the Chanukah story. The prayers for the first night of Chanukah will be recited, followed by a community lighting of menorahs. It is a breath-taking site to see so many menorahs with candles aglow.

Chanukah, also known as the "Festival of Lights", celebrates the victory of the Jewish people to prevail over the Assyrians and Greeks in a struggle to take back the temple in Jerusalem. The lighting of the menorah commemorates the eight days the small amount of oil lasted so that the Jewish people could rededicate their temple.

Temple Beth Torah, a small reform Jewish congregation, has been serving the communities of Kingwood, Humble, Atascocita and surrounding areas since 1983. The temple hosts Shabbat services every Friday night and sponsors a variety of educational and social activities for all ages. Temple Beth Torah members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including many interfaith families. For more information about the temple, please call (281) 446- 5611 or visit our website at: www.temple-beth-torah.org.
