Jones Park in celebrating Arbor Day Saturday and Sunday, January 21 and 22.
Saturday programs include a Mighty Tree Tour at 9 a.m., a Pulp to Paper demonstrationat 10 a.m. (Reservations required (281) 446-8588),and a Native Trees presentation at 2 p.m. A park naturalist leads the Mighty Tree Tour that includes the natural history of the trees in the park.
During the Pulp to Paper demonstration, visitors can learn how paper is manufactured and create a special paper creation. At 2 p.m., visitors can get an overview of the best native tree selections for their yards.
And Sunday at 2 p.m. visitors ages eight and over can participate in the art of origami at a Pleating Origami Style (Reservations required (281) 446-8588).
Free tree saplings will be given away Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., while supplies last.
Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, a Harris County Precinct 4 facility under the leadership of Commissioner Jerry Eversole, is located at 20634 Kenswick Drive in Humble.
All programs are free of charge and open to the public. Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, race, sex, religion, national origin or physical ability.
