May Community Center Announces the 2012 Fun4Kids Summer Program

Children of all ages can gather to play at May Community Center this summer during a variety of fun-filled activities scheduled for Tuesdays, June 12 through July 31.

 

A $3 per child, per program suggested donation is encouraged and helps defray the costs of entertainment and refreshments. Advance registration is required. For more information and to register, please stop by the Center or call (281) 324-3373.

Adventures in Storyland

Tuesday, June 12 at 10 a.m.

Join Dante, a "Teller of Tales," on an exciting and interactive voyage to the Land of Stories. With his magic flute, Dante recounts stirring tales from various lands and cultures, teaching about differences and finding the good in all. Children participate in the storytelling with movement and voice.

YUCK! The Game Show

Tuesday, June 19 at 10 a.m.

Getting messy is part of the fun in this interactive stage show featuring a variety of fast-paced stunts and physical challenges. Children from the audience compete in a series of messy games (non-staining) and wacky physical stunts and one lucky child will get "slimed" in the end!

Birthday Bash

Tuesday, June 26 at 10 a.m.

They say it's your birthday...it's my birthday too, yeah! Why wait to celebrate? Join in the fun as we magically turn everyone's birthday all into the same day! Complete with Harmony the Clown, Abby the Monkey, cake and ice cream!

Mad Science

Tuesday, July 10 at 10 a.m.

POOF! Be amazed by indoor fireworks, bubbling potions, spectacular chemical reactions, vortex generators, special effects and more! Don't miss out on the non-stop, eye-popping excitement as May Community Center is turned into a Mad Science laboratory!

Rumpled Stetson

Tuesday, July 17 at 10 a.m.

Be a part of the act in this theater performance that is full of sing-along songs, puppets, and audience participation. It is the story of "Rumplestiltskin" with an East Texas twist, that is. Find out what happens when a young woman's father makes a promise about her ability to spin hay into gold!

Dinosaurs Rock

Tuesday, July 24 at 10 a.m.

Are you fascinated with dinosaurs, fossils and minerals? Have a true Jurassic experience as May Community Center is transformed into a hands-on dinosaur museum. See and touch dinosaur fossils and minerals up close at this unforgettable event.

Wild Rapids

Tuesday, July 31 at 10 a.m.

Cool off from the hot Texas sun and experience the thrill of riding the rapids down this wet mountain of fun! The Wild Rapids is the king of all waterslides!Please note: A bathing suit (worn under clothes), sunscreen, towel, and water shoes are recommended.

May Community Center's free intergenerational programs are part of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle's educational and recreational commitment to Harris County residents. May Community Center is a Precinct 4 community center located at 2100 Wolf Road, Huffman 77336. Center hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information regarding classes or other Center programs, please call (281) 324-3373. Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages, regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, national origin or other physical ability. Anyone requiring special assistance to participate in any program should contact May Community Center. An adult must accompany children under the age of 18. Childcare is not provided at any Precinct 4 facility, and children are not allowed in classes in which they are not eligible to participate.
