May Community Center’s Special Events Calendar for Fall 2012

Looking for something fun to do to put on your fall schedule?  The May Community Center in Huffman, TX, has a number of special events coming up in addition to the ongoing weekly classes.  Take a trip on the Southern Empress, learn more about the area by visiting the Museum of the Gulf Coast or the Museum of Southern History, or celebrate fall with friends with a trip to the Scarecrow Festival.

 

May Community Center Trips

Sign-up is in person on a first-come, first-served basis. To check the availability of space on these trips, please call May Center.

Transportation is limited to individuals 50 years of age and better, and is provided through Harris County Precinct 4's Senior Adult Program.

Fall 2012 Special Events 

Children's Story Time:  Pete the Cat "Rocking in My School Shoes" by Eric Litwin and James Dean

Tuesday, September 11 at 10 a.m.

A Center volunteer makes the story come alive, transporting listeners into the wonderful world of fantasy! Following the story, plan to stay and make a related craft. Please note: Advance registration is required and a $1 per child suggested donation is requested. Punch and snacks for children are provided. Sign up at the Center or by phone.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

Friday, September 14 at 10 a.m.

       Join Walt McFadden, Project Director with RSVP as he explains volunteer opportunities with the numerous organizations they partner with.

Birthday Card Making

Tuesday, September 18 at 1 p.m.

Create four birthday cards worth celebrating from pre-packaged materials.  A $6 suggested donation covers the cost of supplies. Class size is limited to 10. 

May Community Center's free intergenerational programs are part of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle's educational and recreational commitment to Harris County residents. May Community Center is a Precinct 4 community center located at 2100 Wolf Road, Huffman 77336. Center hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information regarding classes or other Center programs, please call 281-324-3373 or visit www.hcp4.net/ccenters. Please note: In observance of Labor Day, May Community Center closes Friday, August 31 at 5 p.m. and reopens Tuesday, September 4 at 8 a.m.

Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages, regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or physical ability. Anyone requiring special assistance to participate in any program should contact the May Community Center. An adult must accompany children under the age of 18. Childcare is not provided at any Precinct 4 facility and children are not allowed in classes in which they are not eligible to participate.
