As Easter approaches, area residents prepare to kick off their holiday weekend festivities at Picnic on the Park . The sixth annual celebration will be on Saturday, April 11th, from 10 am to 4 pm in Town Center Park .

Families and friends come together and enjoy a day at the park with a full day of fun featuring a street fair, food booths, petting zoo, games, and entertainment. Admission is free. Game booth tickets will be available for $1 each or $15 for a wristband for all day play.

The Easter egg hunt begins at 10 a.m. with separate sessions for groups of 10 children in three age groups: 3 and under, 4 to 7, and 8 and up. The event also will feature children’s game booths, pony rides, petting zoo and a coloring contest for children 8 and under. Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be available from 10 am to 12:30 pm.

New this year is the “Teen Zone” complete with a rock wall, dunk tank, basketball and baseball challenge where aspirants can test their skills. At 3 pm, teams can face off in “Jello Wars,” a tug-of-war game where the losing side gets a face full of Jello.

The main stage will be hopping through the day with performances by area performers. Music from Eric Jensen will start the event. Performance groups from Quest High school will make an appearance at 2 pm, and up and coming artists, Jessica Ferguson and Jake Muck will perform at 2:45 and 3:15 respectively.
