Second Annual Picnic on the Park to be Held Saturday, March 26th

Join us for Hoppy Easter festivities on Saturday, March 26th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in Town Center Park, Kingwood, for the Second Annual Picnic on the Park. There will be something for everyone with game booths, entertainment, refreshments and vendor fair. A free Easter egg hunt will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Performances will be held throughout the day by local groups including: Miss Stacey’s Dance Studio, Golden Bells Choir, The Dancing Divas and All That Jazz. Fun activities for the children include: pony rides, petting zoo, inflatables and a variety of game booths sponsored by area businesses. Game booth and raffle tickets will be on sale the day of the event and are also available for pre-purchase at the event web site, www.picniconthepark.com.

Picnic on the Park is a nonprofit organization founded by Dawn Bajalieh, a Realtor with RE/MAX Associates NE in Kingwood. “I love planning events for children and I’ve always wanted to put on an Easter egg hunt for the whole community,” explained Bajalieh. The idea for this event took wings in 2004 and expanded into a charity fundraiser. Each year a local charity is chosen to be the beneficiary of the event.

The beneficiary for 2005 is The Village Learning and Achievement Center. The mission of the Village Learning & Achievement Center is to create environments that enable individuals with learning and developmental disabilities to reach their maximum potential.

The Village Learning and Achievement Center was established in September 2000. The corporation was the creation of two mothers of special needs children, Kim Brusatori and Linda Schuiten, who realized that upon graduation their children had no options available to them in the local area other than coming home and watching TV. They knew that the area they lived in was large enough and had a significant number of special needs children from the work they both had done on the Special Education Parent Council of Humble Independent School District. They decided to start a non-profit corporation in order to foster services, programs and facilities for the children who lived in the area.

The 2005 Picnic on the Park is sponsored by Apple Moving, The Observer, Dawn Bajalieh with RE/MAX Associates NE, The Kingwood Chamber of Commerce, Humble Print and Fold LLC, Legacy Marketing Services and Jump Zone.

Picnic on the Park is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to organize and sponsor a yearly Easter event fostering community spirit, business involvement and generating awareness of local charitable organizations. The proceeds from the event are donated to a local charity. Event details can be found at www.picniconthepark.com.
