Mercer Botanic Gardens invites new second and third graders to explore the gardens and observe the pollinators that flap, fly and flitter among the flowers during its Butterflies & Bees Camp starting Tuesday, July 21 through Thursday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Students will have the opportunity to share their artistic abilities and put their nature skills to the test during this three-day camp focusing on butterflies, bees and other essential pollinators. From conducting a habitat survey to constructing honeycombs, participants will enjoy plenty of crafts, games and age-appropriate entertainment sure to make their summer memorable.
“Children will learn all about pollinators and how vital they are for plant pollination and seed production,” said Mercer Education Director Jennifer Garrison. “What better location to teach children about pollination and seed production than the gardens of Mercer?”

A suggested donation of $30 is requested to cover the cost of materials, which is due at the time of registration. Participants must be dropped off between 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m. and picked up at noon each day.
