Getting a jump on university engineering programs is one of many topics that will be discussed at Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Engineering Information Session. The free seminar will be held on Tuesday, April 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the college’s Performing Arts Center room 125.
Prospective students and their parents will learn about university transfer programs, Lone Star College System university engineering partnerships and university transfer coursework at LSC-Kingwood and LSC-Atascocita Center.
“Students will receive up-to-date information on university engineering programs and the required courses for those programs,” said Shelley Caraway, dean of the math, education, engineering and student success division at LSC-Kingwood and interim dean of the LSC-Atascocita Center. “Students who wish to start at universities as well as those planning to complete coursework at Lone Star College prior to transferring to a university are encouraged to attend the information session.”
Students interested in science, technology, engineering, or math, should consider attending the Engineering Information Session to learn more about the curriculum and opportunities. Current and potential students who want to apply to a university engineering program should bring transcripts of all coursework completed. High school students are advised to also bring their transcripts to receive information on pathway coursework or recommended dual credit courses.
“Engineering is a growing career field for college graduates with thousands of engineering jobs currently available in Texas,” Caraway said. Engineering graduates enjoy high paying and professionally rewarding careers.”
Students can start their engineering education at Lone Star College and transfer to a university program on track. Lone Star College students can choose from five associate degree engineering programs: mechanical, electrical, civil, industrial, and biomedical. The coursework is aligned to transfer seamlessly to university programs.
