The 2nd ANNUAL HAAM PILLARS OF THE COMMUNITY " Celebrating Hands and Hearts of Lake Houston" will be held on September 15th 6 PM at The Kingwood Country Club. This event honors Lake Houston Area Couples who have gone above and beyond in giving their time and resources to their neighbors in need. The three couples nominated and honored this year have certainly shown exemplary and selfless efforts and help make this community a better place for all to live work and raise children. The 2012 Honorees are:
Philippe & Mieke Cras, Community Local entrepreneurs and owners of Homewood suites as well as Kingwood Parc. Philippe and Mieke Cras are known in Kingwood for their community involvement and dedication to Kingwood's businesses and area non-profits. They have been successful through their hard work, talents and community relationships in helping the Kingwood Humble area grown and develop. The Cras family has been a part of our community since 1998.
Tony & Leslie Raffa, Have been active in the community for over 2 decades, ever since they opened Amedeo's in the mid 80's they were involved in the community with donations, and assisting with any and all charitable events. They soon added Raffa's Waterfront Grill to their restaurant ownership and expanded their community support by hosting a pre opening party with all of the proceeds to benefit HISD Scholarship. The Raffas are always there to lend a hand and donate to help our community grow and prosper.
Larry Shiflet & Cynthia Calvert, Owners of the highly successful locally owned community Newspaper "The Tribune Newspapers" as well as Steep Creek Media. These visionaries created an industry with Steep Creek. With its first ads on the HISD busses, this partnership helped the school system with revenues to increases budget dollars for our schools which then lead to other schools in the area standing in line to do the same. Larry, our honored retired Humble Sheriff, and Cynthia, one of our most energetic community leaders, assists the area with time, donations and talent time and again while serving on several civic and non profit boards.
Funds raised at THE PILLARS OF THE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION will support HAAM's client services programs including client emergency services, career services, food, back to school supplies, and adult education, not to mention several other programs that HAAM executes throughout the year.
The award presenters for this event, Hosted by Humble Area Assistance Ministries, are Guy and Diane Sconzo, Rick and Dorothy Alspaugh and Jack and Lynn Fields. The first of many underwriting sponsors are Humble Rotary Intercontinental and Insperity.
