Fourth Annual Picnic on the Park to Benefit Charity

Kingwood Texas:   Local business owners and community volunteers are preparing for a bigger and better Picnic on the Park event this Spring with a Ladies Luncheon and Easter Bonnet Contest to be held at the Kingwood Country Club on Tuesday, April 3 plus the annual egg hunt and vendor fair Saturday, April 7 at Kingwood Town Center Park.

“Proceeds from both events will benefit the Village Learning & Achievement Center – our third year to support this local charity,” says event committee member Carla Alvarez of Legacy Marketing Services.  “Donations and participation by area businesses make this event successful and fun for everyone in our community while supporting this vital charity’s programs for individuals with disabilities.”

The gala Spring event will kick off as vendors feature their jewelry and fashion items at the second annual Ladies Luncheon and Easter Bonnet Contest April 3 at the Kingwood Country Club to be emceed by Cynthia Calvert, owner of the new Tribune Newspapers. Shopping, lunch and a fashion show featuring garments from Houston Area Fiber Artists will be enjoyed by attendees dressed in their Easter bonnet best with awards given in several categories for the finest, funniest or most creative chapeaus.  Luncheon tickets are $30. Reserved tables are available.  To purchase individual or group tickets, call 713.289.0819.  The luncheon is sponsored by Clubs of Kingwood, Liz Fogt of fogtnotes.com, and Tribune Newspapers.

The luncheon will be followed on Saturday, April 7 with the highlight of Picnic on the Park --- a free Easter egg hunt in Town Center Park from 10 am to noon Saturday.  “We have incredible volunteer help, and the children have a wonderful time,” Alvarez notes.  Many other activities will be available throughout the day, including game booths sponsored by businesses and a craft and vendor fair with a wide selection of unique items.

“Local businesses sponsor game booths for the kids each year, and our vendor fair continues to grow in the number and quality of exhibitors with items you don’t find elsewhere,” explains Alvarez. “We are receiving applications for booths now and encourage businesses to reserve their space early.”

A new addition to this year’s Picnic on the Park is a parade to be called "A Stroll in the Park: a spring parade."  It will be held at 2:00 pm.  The public is encouraged to participate.  They can walk, bike, or golf cart.  Entry fees are $5 per individual or $10 per family/nonprofit organization and $25 for commercial entries.  Entry forms can be picked up at Pampered Paws Boutique at 3019 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood Texas or downloaded online at www.picniconthepark.com

Pampered Paws Boutique also will be sponsoring a pet area at the event.  There will be a pet egg hunt, pictures with your pet, as well as several other activities throughout the day.  Visit the event web site for a schedule of activities.
