HOUSTON –An exhibit of sculptural works by Kathy Kelley will be showcased at Lone Star College-Kingwood on Oct. 15 through Nov. 13 in the Student and Fine Arts Building Art Gallery.
Local art lovers may be familiar with Kelley through her involvement with the new experimental art space in Houston called BOX 13 ArtSpace. Her sculptures consist of reanimated and repurposed objects of urban refuse. Kelly has been expanding her body of work and will have new pieces for this show.
Kelley was selected to participate in the 2009 Texas Biennial, chosen for a solo exhibition at Women and Their Work in 2010 and is the recipient of an Emerging Arts Fellowship from the Houston Arts Alliance.
Visitors are invited to meet Kelley during the gallery’s opening reception and artist talk , Oct. 15, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. (Artist Talk at 6:30 p.m.) and Oct. 19, from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. (Artist Talk at 12:45 p.m.). Kelley is a dynamic speaker and her artist talks are a great opportunity to learn firsthand about her methods, philosophy and medium. The evening reception coincides with the LSC-Kingwood Symphonic Community Band and Jazz Ensemble Concert so patrons can easily take part in both.
