May Community Center offers American Heart Association Infant, Child, and Adult CPR Training Saturday, February 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This course is designed to train individuals to take assertive action in emergency situations, and to recognize and care for life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac problems and other medical dilemmas.

Objectives include:

  • Learn to safely respond to emergency situations.
  • Recognize the warning signs of a heart attack.
  • Learn to reduce risk of a heart attack.
  • Learn what to do if a person stops breathing.
  • Learn how to give CPR to an individual whose heart stopped beating.
  • Learn how to effectively use the community’s EMS system.

Upon successful course completion, each participant receives an American Heart Association Infant, Child, and Adult CPR Certificate that is valid for two years. Class begins promptly at 11 a.m. The recommended participation age is 16 and older; infants and children are not allowed in class.

A $25 fee covers the cost of certification and materials; checks are made payable to Jeanah Bratton. Advance payment is required, so please come by the Center to register. Class is limited to the first 12 people to sign up.

May Community Center’s free intergenerational programs are part of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Eversole’s educational and recreational commitment to Harris County residents. May Community Center is a Precinct 4 community center located at 2100 Wolf Road, Huffman 77336. Center hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information regarding classes or other Center programs, please call (281) 324-3373. Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages, regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or physical ability. Anyone requiring special assistance to participate in any program should contact May Community Center. An adult must accompany children under the age of 18.
