McClellans Hosts Celtic Event March 9th

McClellans Hosts Celtic Event March 9th

There's now a top-notch Scottish pub near Kingwood and Humble-- it's McClellan's, owned by the McClellan family. It's the place with a nine-hole golf course, located at the north foot of Houston Avenue at Townsen Boulevard.

It's a family place, with the ambience you'd find in an Edinburgh pub. Young Phillip McClellan is the proprietor. He has arguably the most complete beer-on-tap collection this side of Glasgow. There's  world-class shuffleboard, competition darts, chess tables and Scot music. Not to mention a driving range, putting greens and the golf course.

On Sunday, March 9, McClellan's Pub is putting on a Celtic Celebration. There will be Scot foods from Caledonia Kitchen, featuring Haggis Texas chili by Kingwood artist Sam Caldwell.

Among other live and lively events, noted Scot-Texas singer-songwriter Sia Beaton will perform songs from her CD. Sia's father performed with Bill Hailey and the Comets.

Also on the bill are Celtic Chorus of Houston, Simply Scottish (Dave Hutton and Julian Tribe), Kristen Jensen, Fiddle, and the Good Time Scottish Dancers, led by Diana Shipman.

Tentative but probable are Kelley Fair, Bagpiper, Arwen Wilson, Recorder, Brian Turner and Ed & Mim Freiter. The last act will be the comedy team of Alan Hutton and the Players.

Everyone, Scot or not,  is invited to drop by, from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 9. No cover charge, and no smoking.
