Help your child discover a new hobby this summer during the Garden Explorers Summer Camp at Mercer Botanic Gardens, held Tuesday through Thursday, July 28 through July 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.
{loadpoisition article-ad}Tip Top Trees is open to children entering the fourth and fifth grades and is packed full of games, crafts and activities with visits to the Cypress Swamp and Hickory Bog at Mercer.
Other activities designed to get children excited about nature include a “Trees of the World” tour that teaches participants to identify trees native to Africa, China, Mexico and more. Then campers will examine a tree sample and test their skills during nature-themed team games.
“There’s far more to do at Mercer than admire the gardens. Campers will get the opportunity to explore nature and study trees with the same tools botanists use,” said Mercer Education Director Jennifer Garrison. “Children will leave camp with a basic understanding of botany and lifelong appreciation of nature.”
Space is limited, so make a reservation today by calling 713-274-4160. A suggested donation of $30 is requested to cover the cost of materials, which is due at the time of registration. Participants must be dropped off between 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m. and picked up at noon each day.
