Rabbi Dan Gordon Presents Passover Stories in Local Libraries

The Jewish celebration of Passover offers the opportunity for some of the most dramatic stories of the Bible, as well as folklore connected to this popular holiday.  The week before Passover this year, Rabbi Dan Gordon of Humble's Temple Beth Torah will be presenting holiday tales at three local libraries.  Monday, March 18 will include an afternoon program in Kingwood and an evening program in Atascocita, followed by a Tuesday morning presentation in Humble on March 19.

"Passover is probably the most widely celebrated Jewish holiday of all," said Rabbi Gordon, who has been Temple Beth Torah's spiritual leader since 1998.  "It's a time for families to get together, for good food, fun songs and exciting stories."  At the library programs, Gordon will present family-friendly stories that people of any religion can enjoy.

Passover includes the story from the Biblical tale in Exodus that chronicles the Israelites' escaping the bondage of slavery and their journey to the Promised Land.  Rabbi Gordon emphasizes that because the primary theme is freedom, anyone can relate to this tale.  "Most people have experienced or observed oppression in one way or another," the rabbi continued.  "This is a time to remember the importance of freedom for all."

In addition to leading Temple Beth Torah, Rabbi Gordon is an internationally recognized storyteller and author.  He is a regular presenter at the Children's Museum of Houston and is on the touring roster for Young Audiences.  All ages are welcome at the library events.
