Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle helped make the holiday season extra special for nearly 200 guests from 40 Red Hat chapters across the Houston area during Precinct 4’s Red Hat Glitz and Glamour Holiday Luncheon, held at the Humble Civic Center.
The event included a catered turkey meal with all the trimmings, prize giveaways and entertainment by the Houston Choral Showcase.
The event was hosted by Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program with support from the Red Hat Belles of Willowbrook Chapter Queen Alesia Barnes, who approached Commissioner Cagle about the event earlier in the year.
“Precinct 4 hosted a similar Red Hat event a few years ago,” she said. “Next year, I want to see a gathering twice this size. This organization keeps growing and I want a chance to show newcomers what we’re all about.”
In honor of the Red Hat Society, Commissioner Cagle issued a proclamation praising the international organization for 16 years of empowering senior women to seek recreation, fun, friendship and fulfillment.
Precinct 4 has been a leader in supporting the Red Hat Society, hosting Sassy Red Hatter meetings at Mangum-Howell Center and offering monthly bus trips within a 150 mile radius of the Houston area.
Sassy Red Hatter meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at Mangum-Howell Center, located in Doss Park at 2500 Frick Road, Houston 77038. For more information regarding classes or other Center programs, please call 281-591-7830 or visit www.hcp4.net/ccenters<http://www.hcp4.net/ccenters
